About Stomp On Step1

Stomp On Step 1 is a free video series and blog that prepares medical students for the USMLE Step 1 Medical Board Exam. This site is full of all of the things I wish somebody had told me before I took the exam. I know what you are thinking “Not another study resource! I already have way too many books and videos to possibly get through.” But this series of videos should be seen as a time saver, not a time commitment. I’ll help you focus in on the most important topics while ignoring the lowest yield material to save you unnecessary anxiety and frustration.

Other study aids have a mountain of material without giving you a way to differentiate the most important material from the least important information. This leads to medical students trying (and failing) to memorize everything. Given that it is impossible to perfectly relearn 2 years’ worth of medical school curriculum in just a few weeks the logical next step is to consider studying efficiency. Focusing more attention on the material that is most important for the USMLE Step 1 Exam and less time on the material that is unlikely to appear on the exam allows you to be more efficient with your limited study time. What sets Stomp On Step 1 apart from other study aids is the High Yield Rating. The HYR is a rating scale from 0 to 10 that gives you a rough estimate for how likely each topic is to appear on the USMLE Step 1 exam. Click here to learn more the High Yield Rating.

About Brian

A 26-year-old male student presents to clinic with a 4 year history of severe headaches whenever low yield minutia is discussed…

Brian McDaniel is a fourth year medical student from South Florida. He did his first 2 years of medical school at UF, but transferred to the Florida State University College of Medicine to be with his Fiancé. Brian took a year “off” in between his MS2 & MS3 years to complete a Masters in Public Health (MPH) at UF. Brian graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Sciences from the University of Florida as a member of the Junior Honors Medical Program (7 year combined MD-BS program).

Brian recently matched to a Family Medicine Residency position at the University of South Florida. He has a passion for working with medically underserved populations and has been on medical mission trips to impoverished areas of Nicaragua and Jamaica. Brian was also the founder and director of “Equal Access at Bartley Temple” a weekly student-run free clinic which sees about 500 patients per year. As a medical student and MPH student Brian has conducted research on the prevention of unnecessary emergency room visits by free clinics, patient satisfaction at free clinics, and the barriers/motivating factors for faculty physicians to volunteer at free clinics.

  1. thank you! any material that helps in the test taking is absolutely welcome and encouraged! i hope that you get the financial support you need to continue and improve on this service to future doctors!

  2. Thank you sir for all your help. You have helped me tremendously in Path and Immunology and now I am doing your biostat videos. You streamline the material to the T which helps me learn the most important things prior to reviewing the lecture materials. Thank you so much. During exam week this just what I need.

  3. I really like your concept of HYR. As I walk through your videos it clear my doubts. You really doing a good job by bringing out these videos. GOD Bless you both.

  4. I love how straight to the point your videos are, without all the unnecessary confusing stuff in between. I will definitely be recommending this website to others as well. And thanks for doing this.

    1. Thanks. Word of mouth is one of the most important ways people find out about us so if you can tell your classmates and friends about us it is a huge help

  5. I am currently a registered nurse in a APRN program. I cannot tell you how much your videos have helped me in Advanced Patho! Thank you so much!!!!

  6. Awesome videos, just found this and have been blown away by the efficiency in presenting the content while maintaining concise videos, thanks so much! I’ll be spreading the word to my med school classmates.

  7. Wao! These materials are amazingly well focused and easy to retain. I am an IMG visiting here for the first time. Thanks a million!

  8. Congratulations!! You both seem to be awesome people! Keep doing this incredible job in the website and professional life!

  9. thank you so much for your amazing videos. i wish you the best! im definitely donating, but ever thought of setting up a patreon?

    1. This turned into a bigger and much more time consuming project than originally planned so I could not finish it before starting residency like I had wanted. Then during residency there just wasn’t enough time to really work on it. Now I’m multiple years removed from using this info on a regular basis (like I did while I was studying for Step myself) and don’t feel qualified to teach it anymore. I have left up the stuff I had already posted as a majority of it is “evergreen” and doesn’t change over time so is still useful to some.

  10. Absolutely understandable and valid. These videos you created were really gold in their own terms. If you ever find someone qualified and would be able to review the information the way you do, it would be amazing if it could be continued. But either way, what you did already is great! Thank you so much!!

  11. I highly recommend. 🌿🌿🌿🌿

    You’ll see. 🙂

    I am free from (Hsv)..

    Thanks Thanks R.bu ck ler1 1 (@) g mail……com
